A growing polemic exists within all animal studies around the relationship of the sub-discipline to the ethics of animal confinement, subjugation and, ultimately killing. This has lead to a specific ‘critical’ thrust in both animal studies as a whole and in animal geography, the focus of this recently edited volume. - HENRY BULLER
