A really rigorous, but accessible entry point, especially, for non-specialists, into animals from a variety of ancient cultures. The book also covers some really important themes concerning animals in antiquity, like hunting and animals in sports and entertainment, not otherwise represented among this “more recent” selection of works. - SUSAN A.
