A fantastic and really accessible book that explores the relationship between human beings and dogs in the ancient Greek world with special emphasis placed on the way the ancient Greeks applied negative ideas about dogs to women in particular. One of those books that could really be useful to those in other fields interested in animals and gender. And, who would not want to know more about just how long ago the term “bitch” was applied to women in western culture! - SUSAN A. CURRY
