This edited collection includes contributions from many of the key exponents of the political turn in animal ethics. The book is divided into three sections. Chapters by Kim Smith, Siobhan O’Sullivan, Tony Milligan, Friederike Schmitz and Alasdair Cochrane use political concepts, ideas and theories to engage with the debate about what we owe to animals morally. Chapters by Lucy Parry, Robert Garner and Steve Cooke focus on the inclusion of animal interests within collective decision-making and particularly within democratic theory and practice. Finally, Dan Lyons and Peter Chen address interesting empirical questions concerning animals and relations of power, with the former dealing with animal experimentation in the UK and the latter with animal welfare decision-making in Australia. - ROBERT GARNER
